Kathleen McDonald has exhibited in over 100 venues in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California and Florida, and abroad, most notably in Charentes, France and the Czech Republic. Her paintings hang in many private and corporate collections, including Johnson & Johnson and Nabisco. She has been a finalist in numerous art competitions and juried exhibits, including First Prize at the 2001 Women Contemporary Artists Exhibition at Ringling School of Art, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club at the New York Arts Club in New York City, sponsored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Asian Exhibition of Prints in Wakayama, Japan. She is a member of many professional art organizations and serves on the boards of the Sarasota Branch of National League of American Pen Women, Women Contemporary Artists and Art Center Sarasota. Her nature photographs can be seen in Sarasota: A Photographic Portrait and in Key West: A Photographic Portrait.

“Painting is the solitary use of my mind and emotions, the silent expression of inner feelings. Landscape is my genre. I need to walk the beaches and breathe the air, climb the rocks and smell the flowers, feel the earth and absorb the atmosphere, before I can paint the place. Each piece is full of sensory emotion and intimate memories. The oil paint is thickly laid, the brush strokes are bold and the colors are bright. I’m impatient. I want to see something on the canvas fast, and I want it to be exciting. My monotypes are painted in the same style, quick and free, bold and bright.”
